Birds know no administrative borders — and neither do we. People reach out to us from all over Ukraine, sometimes in ways that just a few years ago were hard to imagine.
One day soldiers from near Kharkiv got in touch by video call straight from the front line: a wounded stork was beside them and they needed advice on how to help it. Together, across hundreds of kilometres, we managed to save the bird. The soldiers also brought us a bird with a concussion — as much a victim of the war as people are.
These stories are a reminder: care for living things stays with us even in the hardest of times.
