In 2024 our centre's work was recognised nationally: founder and ornithologist Viktor Shelvinsky became one of the laureates of the All-Ukrainian Animal Protection Award from UAnimals.The recognition is for almost two decades of daily work: thousands of injured birds from all corners of Ukraine have passed through the centre.For us this award is a reminder that saving birds matters to many people — and an incentive to keep going.
In 2024 the work of our centre was recognised at the national level: the founder of Free Wings, ornithologist Viktor Shelvinskyi, became one of the laureates of the All-Ukrainian Animal Protection Award from UAnimals.
The award was presented in Kyiv in the spring of 2024. This recognition is for almost two decades of daily work: over these years thousands of injured birds from every corner of Ukraine have passed through the centre.
For us this distinction is not only about the past. It is a reminder that saving birds matters to many people, and an incentive to keep working.
